The FUNDACION PARADIGMA CORDOBA PARA LA CONVIVENCIA, based in the Torre de la Calahorra in Cordoba, succeeds the one founded in 1987 by the French thinker Roger Garaudy, whose activity in Cordoba was very prominent, especially in advocating coexistence between all cultures. In 2010, the Foundation changed its name to Fundación Paradigma Córdoba and, in 2022, added: Fundación Paradigma Córdoba para la Convivencia.
Its Statutes include its essential aims of recalling the capital role of Cordoba in the reciprocal fertilisation of the cultures of the East (Chinese, Hindu, Arab and Persian) and the West (Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian) between the 8th and 13th centuries. As well as the positive examples of coexistence between the three Abrahamic religions: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim, which converged in al-Andalus. The aim is to promote the exceptional cultural dimension of the city of Cordoba, under the principles and foundations of Ecumenism and Dialogue, but beyond religions, in a universal way.
To express its objectives of understanding and peace, the Fundación Paradigma Córdoba para la Convivencia uses two organisations, the Museo Vivo al-Andalus and the Biblioteca Viva al-Andalus, and its projects and activities such as the Córdoba Forum, the Caminos de Concordia, and its publications.
